✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the steep, dramatic slopes of the Kröver Steffensberg in the Middle Mosel, this Auslese is a testament to Weingut Vollenweider's dedication to preserving historic, challenging terroirs. Unlike the slate-dominated Wolfer Goldgrube, the Steffensberg vineyard features a unique composition of deep, iron-rich grey slate, which imparts a distinctively robust, spicy, and wild-berry character to the Riesling. The 'Nr9' designation refers to a specific, meticulously selected cask (Fuder) that captured the perfect harmony of noble rot and pristine fruit. Crafted with minimal intervention, wild yeast fermentation, and slow maturation, this wine embodies the classic Mosel tension—a breathtaking dance between luscious, honeyed sweetness and a piercing, electric vein of acidity.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2000 by the late Swiss winemaker Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is located in Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany. The estate is renowned for reclaiming and preserving historic, extremely steep vineyards, most notably the Wolfer Goldgrube, which features ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Operating with a philosophy of meticulous manual labor, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, the winery crafts highly precise, mineral-driven white wines, particularly their legendary, tension-filled Riesling Auslese expressions.
