โจ Technical Specifications
Nestled in the dramatic, steep slopes of the Mosel valley, the Krรถver Steffensberg vineyard is renowned for its iron-rich grey slate soils and warm, south-southwest exposure. Weingut Vollenweider's Beerenauslese (BA) from this site is a rare, nectar-like masterpiece born from painstaking, berry-by-berry hand selection of botrytis-affected grapes. Daniel Vollenweider's legacy of minimal intervention and deep respect for old, ungrafted vines shines in this cuvรฉe, which beautifully balances intense, honeyed concentration with the Mosel's signature crystalline acidity and deep mineral tension. It is a testament to the heroic viticulture required to farm these dizzying slopes.
๐พ About the Producer
Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
