Weingut Vollenweider's Kröver Steffensberg Riesling Spätlese Nr. 5 is a sublime testament to the late Daniel Vollenweider's devotion to the forgotten, steep slopes of the Middle Mosel. The Kröver Steffensberg vineyard, historically highly regarded but often overshadowed in the late 20th century, features steep, south-southwest-facing slopes rich in weathered grey slate with iron-veined clay. This unique terroir imparts a distinctively deep, spicy minerality and rich stone fruit character to the Riesling. The 'Nr. 5' designation represents a specific selection that showcases an exceptional balance of natural residual sweetness and vibrant, electric acidity. Crafted with meticulous manual labor, gentle pressing, and spontaneous fermentation, this Spätlese captures the classic Mosel tension—light on its feet yet incredibly intense, layered with notes of white peach, wild herbs, and a smoky, slate-driven finish.

Established in 2000 by the late Swiss winemaker Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is located in Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany. The estate is renowned for reclaiming and preserving historic, extremely steep vineyards, most notably the Wolfer Goldgrube, which features ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Operating with a philosophy of meticulous manual labor, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, the winery crafts highly precise, mineral-driven white wines, particularly their legendary, tension-filled Riesling Auslese expressions.
