✨ Technical Specifications
The Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Auslese Lange Goldkapsel is a liquid monument to the steep-slope viticulture of the Mosel. Sourced from the historic, amphitheater-like Wolfer Goldgrube vineyard, this wine is crafted from extremely old, often ungrafted Riesling vines clinging to weathered grey slate soils. The Lange Goldkapsel designation represents the absolute pinnacle of the Auslese category, indicating a selection of highly botrytised, shriveled berries harvested by hand with obsessive care. Winemaking involves gentle pressing and slow, cool fermentation, preserving the pristine purity of the fruit. The resulting wine is a masterclass in tension, balancing luscious, honeyed sweetness with a piercing, mineral-driven acidity that reflects the unique, cool microclimate of Traben-Trarbach.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
