✨ Technical Specifications

Crafted from the dizzyingly steep, slate-laden slopes of the Wolfer Goldgrube, this Auslese is a testament to the late Daniel Vollenweider's vision of resurrecting forgotten Mosel terroirs. The 'Nr. 7' designation represents an exceptional, small-batch selection—often a specific fuder or auction lot—sourced from ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. These venerable vines dig deep into the weathered grey slate, yielding grapes of extraordinary concentration. Harvested by hand with meticulous selection for noble rot (botrytis), the wine is fermented slowly with native yeasts. The result is a masterclass in tension: a luscious, honeyed sweetness balanced perfectly by a piercing, electric vein of slate-driven acidity and mineral energy that defines the finest sweet wines of the Mosel.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
