β¨ Technical Specifications
The Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling SpΓ€tlese Goldkapsel is a testament to the late Daniel Vollenweider's vision of restoring the steep, forgotten slopes of the Mosel. The 'Goldgrube' (meaning golden pit) is a historic vineyard characterized by its steep, south-facing amphitheater of weathered grey Devonian slate and extremely old, ungrafted Riesling vines. The 'Goldkapsel' designation signifies a special selection of highly ripe grapes, yielding a wine of extraordinary concentration, luscious sweetness, and vibrant acidity. Fermented slowly with indigenous yeasts, this wine captures the tension between rich stone fruit flavors and a piercing, salty mineral spine that defines the finest Mosel Rieslings.
πΎ About the Producer
Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
