Crafted from the precipitous, amphitheater-like slopes of the Wolfer Goldgrube, this Trockenbeerenauslese represents the absolute pinnacle of Mosel sweet winemaking. The late Daniel Vollenweider fell in love with the Mosel's sweet nectars and dedicated his life to restoring neglected, ancient, ungrafted vines on these treacherous Devonian slate cliffs. For this rare TBA, botrytized berries are painstakingly selected grain by grain by hand during multiple passes through the vineyard. The resulting nectar is a monumental expression of concentrated stone fruit, honeyed botrytis, and electric slate minerality, balanced by the searing acidity characteristic of the Goldgrube's unique microclimate.
🍾 wine.about_producer
Established in 2000 by the late Swiss winemaker Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is located in Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany. The estate is renowned for reclaiming and preserving historic, extremely steep vineyards, most notably the Wolfer Goldgrube, which features ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Operating with a philosophy of meticulous manual labor, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, the winery crafts highly precise, mineral-driven white wines, particularly their legendary, tension-filled Riesling Auslese expressions.
