Silvaner has a rich history in Rheinhessen, where it was once the undisputed king of the vineyards long before Riesling's modern dominance. First brought to German soil in the mid-17th century, this ancient variety finds a soulful, contemporary expression in the hands of the Wittmann family. Sourced from estate vineyards in Westhofen characterized by limestone-rich soils, this dry Silvaner is crafted with the same biodynamic rigor as Wittmann's legendary Grosses Gew%chs bottlings. Fermented with native yeasts and matured in a combination of stainless steel and traditional large neutral oak casks, it captures the rustic elegance of the region. It offers a beautifully textured, herbal, and mineral-driven profile that pays homage to old-school German viticulture.

Weingut Wittmann har rødder i Westhofen helt tilbage til 1663 og regnes i dag blandt Tysklands mest indflydelsesrige pionerer inden for økologisk og biodynamisk vinbrug i Wonnegau-området i Rheinhessen. Under visionær ledelse af Philipp Wittmann og hans familie omlagde vinhuset til økologisk dyrkning i 1990 og opnåede fuld biodynamisk certificering i 2004. Wittmanns filosofi bygger på kompromisløs pleje af vinmarkerne, spontangæring med det naturlige gær og lagring på traditionelle, neutrale egetræsfade for at give det reneste udtryk for det kalkrige terroir på legendariske VDP.Grosse Lage-marker som Morstein, Kirchspiel, Aulerde og Brunnenhäuschen. Vingården er verdensberømt for sine skelsættende tørre Grosses Gewächs-Rieslinger, der brillerer med krystalklar præcision, spændstighed og kalket mineralitet, men mestrer i lige så høj grad exceptionelle ædelsøde botrytis-vine samt elegante Pinot Noir-vine.
