The Spätburgunder Reserve is crafted from carefully selected grapes grown on these mineral-rich slopes, where cool winds and active lime mimic the ideal conditions of Burgundy. Historically, Pinot Noir was brought to Germany by Cistercian monks in the Middle Ages, finding a natural home in these terroirs. Wittmann utilizes biodynamic farming, indigenous yeast fermentation, and careful aging in French oak barriques to produce a red wine of remarkable elegance, showcasing dark cherry fruit, subtle forest floor notes, and a fine-grained tannic structure that reflects their centuries-old winemaking heritage.

With viticultural heritage in Westhofen dating back to 1663, Weingut Wittmann is one of Germany's most influential pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the Wonnegau sub-region of Rheinhessen. Under the visionary leadership of Philipp Wittmann, alongside his family, the estate transitioned to organic farming in 1990 and achieved full biodynamic certification in 2004.
