While the estate's roots date back to 1663, this dry red highlights the cooler-climate elegance of German Spätburgunder, which was originally brought to the region by Cistercian monks in the Middle Ages. Grown in the limestone-rich soils of Rheinhessen under strict biodynamic farming, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented using indigenous yeasts before aging in traditional large oak casks. The resulting wine is a pure, vibrant expression of the terroir, balancing bright red cherry fruit with delicate earthy undertones and a fine, mineral-driven structure.

With viticultural heritage in Westhofen dating back to 1663, Weingut Wittmann is one of Germany's most influential pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the Wonnegau sub-region of Rheinhessen.
