Hailing from the legendary Morstein vineyard in Westhofen, which has documented winegrowing roots dating back to 1282, this Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) represents the absolute pinnacle of German noble sweet wine. The Morstein's unique terroir—composed of heavy clay marl layers interspersed with limestone—imparts a profound mineral structure to the vines. In exceptional vintages, autumn mists encourage the development of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot). The grapes are painstakingly harvested by hand, berry by shriveled berry, selecting only those fully concentrated by botrytis. Fermented slowly in Wittmann's historic vaulted cellars, the resulting nectar is a breathtakingly complex masterpiece where luscious sweetness is perfectly counterbalanced by the electric, vibrant acidity characteristic of biodynamically farmed Riesling. It is a rare, liquid monument to patience and nature's favor.

With a winegrowing heritage in the Rheinhessen village of Westhofen dating back to 1663, Weingut Wittmann is a pioneering force in German biodynamic viticulture, having committed to organic practices in 1990 and biodynamics in 2004. Managed today by Philipp Wittmann alongside his family, the estate is globally revered for its precise, terroir-driven dry Rieslings sourced from legendary Grosses Gewächs sites like Morstein, Kirchspiel, and Aulerde. In their historic vaulted cellar built in 1829, the wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in traditional large oak casks, resulting in structured, mineral-rich expressions of outstanding longevity.
