Hailing from the legendary Morstein vineyard, first documented in 1282, this Auslese is a sublime expression of one of Rheinhessen's most revered terroirs. The vineyard's south-facing slope is rich in heavy clay marl and dense limestone, which imparts a profound, chalky minerality to the vines. For this noble sweet bottling, Wittmann meticulously hand-selects golden, overripe grapes—often touched by beneficial botrytis—to capture concentrated sugars alongside vibrant, electric acidity. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in the estate's historic vaulted cellars, the wine beautifully juxtaposes opulent, honeyed stone fruit flavors with a crystalline, saline finish, showcasing the remarkable tension and longevity that defines the Morstein site.

With a winegrowing heritage in the Rheinhessen village of Westhofen dating back to 1663, Weingut Wittmann is a pioneering force in German biodynamic viticulture, having committed to organic practices in 1990 and biodynamics in 2004. Managed today by Philipp Wittmann alongside his family, the estate is globally revered for its precise, terroir-driven dry Rieslings sourced from legendary Grosses Gewächs sites like Morstein, Kirchspiel, and Aulerde. In their historic vaulted cellar built in 1829, the wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in traditional large oak casks, resulting in structured, mineral-rich expressions of outstanding longevity.
