Part of Xavier Vignon's enigmatic 'Arcane' series—named after the major arcana of the Tarot—'Le Fou' (The Fool) represents a daring, rule-breaking approach to Southern Rhône winemaking. Classified as a Vin de France to bypass strict appellation laws, this cuvée is a masterclass in multi-vintage blending. It typically unites Grenache from five distinct, exceptional vintages and up to ten different terroirs, drawing heavily from old-vine parcels in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This 'madness' of blending across years allows Vignon to capture the ultimate expression of the grape, combining the vibrant acidity of cooler years with the rich concentration and structure of warmer ones. The wine is aged meticulously in a combination of concrete tanks and oak casks to preserve its intense fruit character and mineral depth.
