A masterful expression of Southern Rhône innovation, Xavier Vignon’s 'La Réserve XV XVI XVII' challenges the traditional single-vintage paradigm of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This cuvée is an artful assemblage of three remarkable vintages: 2015, which brings structure and power; 2016, celebrated for its exceptional balance and freshness; and 2017, contributing concentration and rich fruit character. Vignon, drawing on his deep scientific background as a consultant oenologist, sources grapes from extremely old vines grown across the appellation's diverse soil types—including Urgonian limestone, sandy parcels, and the iconic clay-gravel terraces covered with galets roulés (rounded pebbles). By blending these distinct terroirs and vintages, Vignon achieves a harmonious, multi-dimensional wine of extraordinary depth, complexity, and silky texture, aged meticulously in a combination of oak foudres and concrete vats.
