Crafted at Japan's oldest commercial distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, the Yamazaki 25 Year Old Pure Malt (bottled in 1999) represents the pinnacle of Japanese whisky-making heritage. Located where the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu rivers meet, the distillery benefits from a unique misty climate and exceptionally soft water, famously praised by legendary tea master Sen no Rikyu. This rare bottling, distilled in the mid-1970s, showcases the meticulous art of Japanese blending and maturation. It is defined by a profound influence of Spanish oak sherry casks, married with traditional American oak and rare, aromatic Mizunara (Japanese oak). The result is an incredibly deep, complex spirit brimming with dried dark fruits, sandalwood, incense, and a delicate, lingering spice that reflects decades of patient maturation.

Yamazaki Distillery blev grundlagt i 1923 af Suntory-skaberen Shinjiro Torii og troner ved foden af Tennozan-bjerget i Shimamoto, Osaka, som Japans første kommercielle single malt-destilleri.
