Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii on the misty outskirts of Kyoto, Yamazaki is Japan's oldest commercial whisky distillery. This legendary site was chosen for its legendary water source, where three rivers—the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu—converge to create a unique, humid microclimate ideal for wood maturation. The Yamazaki 12 Year Old 'White Box' represents a highly coveted older bottling era from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Unlike modern iterations, these older releases are celebrated for containing a generous proportion of older, richly concentrated whiskies in the blend.
