The Tsukuriwake philosophy of diversity in whisky-making is epitomized in this rare 2022 bottling, which showcases Yamazaki's legendary mastery of Mizunara (Japanese oak). Mizunara is notoriously difficult to cooper due to its porous nature and twisting grain, requiring trees to be at least 200 years old before harvesting. This scarce wood imparts a deeply spiritual, ethereal character to the single malt, yielding signature notes of aromatic sandalwood, temple incense, coconut, and subtle Japanese spices that have come to define the pinnacle of Japanese whisky craftsmanship.

Yamazaki Distillery blev grundlagt i 1923 af Suntory-skaberen Shinjiro Torii og troner ved foden af Tennozan-bjerget i Shimamoto, Osaka, som Japans første kommercielle single malt-destilleri.
