Nestled at the foot of Mount Tennozan where three rivers meet, the Yamazaki Distillery was established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, marking the birth of Japanese whisky. During World War II, when importing European and American casks was impossible, Suntory's artisans turned to Mizunara out of necessity, accidentally discovering a profound maturation profile.
