The Yamazaki Single Malt Peated Malt Bottled 2022 is a masterclass in the Tsukuriwake philosophy—the art of diversity in whisky-making. While Yamazaki is globally renowned for its deep, fruit-forward, and Mizunara-spiced profile, this limited release shines a spotlight on one of its foundational pillars: heavily peated malted barley. Distilled with pristine, soft water celebrated by legendary tea master Sen no Rikyu, the spirit is matured primarily in American oak casks. This process tempers the intense, smoky peat with Yamazaki's signature elegant sweetness, resulting in a complex dram layered with gentle ash, bright citrus, and subtle herbal undertones.

Yamazaki Distillery blev grundlagt i 1923 af Suntory-skaberen Shinjiro Torii og troner ved foden af Tennozan-bjerget i Shimamoto, Osaka, som Japans første kommercielle single malt-destilleri. Beliggenheden, hvor floderne Katsura, Uji og Kizu mødes, blev nøje udvalgt på grund af det usædvanligt bløde, rene kildevand samt det tågede, fugtige mikroklima, der skaber optimale betingelser for fadlagring.
