✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from Japan's oldest commercial distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii near Kyoto, the Yamazaki Single Malt Puncheon 2022 Edition celebrates the meticulous art of wood selection. Puncheons are large, 480-liter casks crafted from American oak. Because of their size, the ratio of liquid to wood is lower than in standard barrels, leading to a slower, gentler maturation process. This allows the spirit to develop its character gradually, retaining the pristine, ester-rich distillery character. Yamazaki's unique location at the convergence of three rivers—the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu—provides a humid, misty climate ideal for cask aging. This expression showcases a delicate profile of golden syrup, green apple, and subtle vanilla, representing the pinnacle of Japanese whisky craftsmanship.
