Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii near Kyoto, the Yamazaki Distillery sits at the misty confluence of the Katsura, Uji, and Kizu rivers, providing a humid microclimate ideal for cask maturation. This legendary release highlights the use of Mizunara oak (Japanese oak), a notoriously difficult wood to cooper due to its porous nature, yet highly prized for imparting exquisite, ethereal notes of sandalwood, temple incense, coconut, and dried orchard fruits. This rare bottling is a liquid testament to Japanese craftsmanship, blending meticulous distillation with decades of patient aging in these sacred casks.

Yamazaki Distillery blev grundlagt i 1923 af Suntory-skaberen Shinjiro Torii og troner ved foden af Tennozan-bjerget i Shimamoto, Osaka, som Japans første kommercielle single malt-destilleri.
