✨ wine.spec_sheet

Zenato's 'Alanera,' which translates to 'black wing,' is a poetic tribute to the elegant ravens that fly over the rolling vineyards of Veneto, as well as a nod to Corvina, the region's premier grape whose name translates to 'little raven.' Crafted in the hills of Valpolicella, this Rosso Veronese IGT is a masterful blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone, complemented by small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To achieve its signature velvety texture and concentrated dark fruit profile, Zenato utilizes a partial appassimento method, air-drying a portion of the grapes for several weeks prior to fermentation. This traditional Venetian technique imparts a rich complexity and soft, rounded tannins, creating a wine that beautifully balances the freshness of a young Valpolicella with the dried-fruit depth of an Amarone.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato and his wife Carla, the Zenato winery is situated on the morainic hills of Lake Garda in San Benedetto di Lugana, Veneto, Italy. Today, the estate is managed by their children, Alberto and Francesca, who continue to champion the unique terroirs of both Lugana and Valpolicella. Renowned for pioneering the quality resurgence of the indigenous Turbiana grape, Zenato produces exceptional white wines, including the iconic Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato. In Valpolicella, the family crafts powerful, elegant red wines from their Costalunga estate, most notably their acclaimed Amarone della Valpolicella Classico and the single-varietal Corvina, Cresasso.
