Pommard 'Clos des Ursulines' is a historic four-hectare monopole vineyard nestled in the southern part of the Pommard appellation, owned exclusively by Albert Bichot's Domaine du Pavillon. The vineyard's name pays homage to its original owners, the Ursuline nuns of Autun, who cultivated these vines centuries ago. Enclosed by traditional stone walls, this unique terroir benefits from a protective microclimate and soils rich in clay and limestone. While Pommard is historically famous for its muscular, rustic style, the Clos des Ursulines is celebrated for its unusual elegance, supple tannins, and pure red fruit profile. The hand-harvested Pinot Noir grapes are aged for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a beautifully structured, velvety wine that seamlessly bridges power and grace.
