Hailing from the historic Quinta do Carmo estate in the Estremoz subregion of Alentejo, Dom Martinho (also known as Don Martinho) Tinto is a classic expression of Portuguese winemaking tradition. The estate itself boasts a storied past, notably marked by a landmark partnership with the prestigious Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in the late 20th century, which elevated the property's technical prowess. This red wine is crafted to showcase the vibrant, fruit-forward side of Alentejo. The vineyards thrive on a complex geological mosaic of clay, limestone, and schist soils. Under the intense Alentejan sun, tempered by the cooling influence of the nearby Serra d'Ossa hills, the grapes achieve optimal phenolic ripeness while retaining essential acidity. Vinified primarily in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve its bright berry aromas, a portion of the blend is gently aged to impart a smooth, rounded texture and subtle spice.

Det berømte vinhus har rødder tilbage til 1922, hvor det blev grundlagt under navnet João Pires & Filhos, inden det sidenhen blev omdøbt til Bacalhôa Vinhos de Portugal. Hovedsædet ligger i Vila Nogueira de Azeitão på Península de Setúbal. Vingården ejes i dag af Berardo-familien, som har udvidet aktiviteterne til Portugals ypperste vinregioner – herunder Douro, Dão, Bairrada og Alentejo. Her forenes en stolt historisk arv og imponerende kunstsamlinger med topmoderne vindyrkning. Bacalhôa er særligt anerkendt for sin pionerånd og var blandt de første til at lancere banebrydende enkeltdruevine. Blandt husets mest hyldede klassikere finder man den legendariske Quinta da Bacalhôa Cabernet Sauvignon samt den traditionsrige, hedvinificerede Moscatel de Setúbal.
