Hailing from the sun-drenched hills of southern Montalcino, Banfi's 'Mandrielle' is a pioneering expression of 100% Syrah in Tuscany. While the region is legendary for Sangiovese, Banfi's extensive soil and clonal research in the late 20th century revealed that the stony, clay-loam soils of the specific Mandrielle vineyard plot were exceptionally suited to this noble Rhรดne variety. The wine is crafted with meticulous care, undergoing temperature-controlled fermentation in hybrid French oak and stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barriques for approximately 10 to 12 months. This careful maturation tempers the grape's natural power, resulting in a deeply colored, complex red that beautifully marries classic Tuscan acidity and elegance with the dark plum, black pepper, and savory leather notes characteristic of premium Syrah.
