✨ Technical Specifications
Escudo Rojo, which translates to 'Red Shield'—the Spanish equivalent of the German 'Rote Schild' that gave the Rothschild family its name—stands as a proud bridge between Bordeaux elegance and Chilean terroir. Established in 1999 in the Central Valley of Chile, this cuvée reflects the family's quest to express the richness of South American soils through the lens of French winemaking expertise. The wine is typically aged in French oak barrels, blending the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the spicy, round character of Carmenère, alongside other classic varieties. This results in a deeply colored, aromatic red that captures the spirit of adventure and ancestral heritage.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1933 by the pioneering Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA is an internationally revered wine company anchored in Pauillac, Bordeaux. Alongside governing Premier Grand Cru Classé flagship Château Mouton Rothschild, the house crafts benchmark négociant and estate wines extending across Bordeaux, the Languedoc, and Chile's Maipo and Casablanca Valleys. The viticultural approach pairs high-standard sustainable practices—notably Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification and eco-friendly plot selection—with meticulous varietal expression. Across maritime Médoc gravels, Mediterranean limestone clay, and Pacific-cooled Chilean alluvial deposits, winemakers craft crisp, aromatic, and structured white expressions. Notable bottlings include Bordeaux blends such as Sélection Agneau Blanc and Berger Baron Blanc, Languedoc single-varietals like Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, alongside Chilean representations like Escudo Rojo Chardonnay Reserva and Las Huertas Chardonnay. Each cuvée reflects the firm's exacting balance of pure fruit vibrancy, textural precision, and classical restraint.
