Paying homage to the ancestral heritage of Chile, Mapu takes its name from the Mapudungun word for land or earth, celebrating the unique connection between the indigenous Mapuche culture and the fertile soils of the Central Valley. Created by the legendary French winemaking house Baron Philippe de Rothschild, this wine represents a harmonious bridge between Bordeaux expertise and Chilean terroir. The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Central Valley, where hot days and cool night breezes from the Andes promote optimal ripening while preserving freshness. Vinified primarily in stainless steel vats to maintain its vibrant, fruit-forward character, Mapu Merlot is renowned for its supple tannins, round mouthfeel, and expressive aromas of dark berries and subtle spices.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. blev grundlagt af Baron Philippe de Rothschild og har hjemsted i Pauillac i Bordeaux – en af verdens mest berømte vinregioner. Huset regnes i dag blandt klodens ypperste familieejede vinvirksomheder. Fundamentet hviler på en visionær og nyskabende tilgang, som revolutionerede moderne vindyrkning og aftapning på selve slottet (mis en bouteille au château). Huset forener på fornemste vis klassiske Bordeaux-traditioner med pionerprojekter på internationale terroirs, herunder ejendomme i Languedoc, Chiles Central Valley og Argentina.
