✨ Technical Specifications
Crafted by the visionary Stéphane Tissot, 'Empreinte' (meaning 'imprint') Chardonnay is a profound tribute to the traditional winemaking heritage of the Jura. Unlike the estate's topped-up (ouillé) single-vineyard cuvées, Empreinte is raised in the classic, slightly oxidative 'sous voile' style, where the wine ages in oak barrels under a naturally occurring veil of yeast. This ancient technique, deeply rooted in the local folklore of Montigny-les-Arsures, imparts a unique aromatic profile. The wine beautifully captures the limestone-rich clay soils of the region, marrying Chardonnay's natural citrus and green apple brightness with complex, savory notes of fresh walnuts, spices, and dried fruits, leaving an indelible imprint of Jura's singular terroir.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1962 by André and Mireille Tissot and taken over by their son Stéphane alongside his wife Bénédicte in 1990, Domaine Bénédicte & Stéphane Tissot is an iconic benchmark of the Jura region, located in the village of Montigny-lès-Arsures near Arbois, France. A relentless pioneer of organic and biodynamic viticulture, Stéphane transitioned the estate to biodynamics in the early 2000s, championing minimal-intervention cellar techniques and native yeast fermentations to reveal hyper-specific terroirs. The domaine produces an extraordinary array of wines spanning profound single-vineyard Chardonnays from sites like Clos de la Tour de Curon and La Mailloche, energetic Savagnins, traditional sous-voile Vin Jaune, vibrant reds from indigenous Trousseau and Poulsard, and exceptional Crémant du Jura such as Indigène. Celebrated for their mineral intensity, purity, and vibrant tension, the estate's artisanal bottlings have rightfully elevated the global reputation of Jura winemaking.
