While Brokenwood's legendary Graveyard Vineyard is globally renowned for producing one of Australia's most iconic Shiraz wines, the estate's mastery extends brilliantly to Chardonnay. Founded in 1970 in the Hunter Valley, Brokenwood has long championed single-vineyard expression. Because the heavy clay soils of the historic Graveyard Vineyard—originally designated as a town cemetery but never used as one—are uniquely suited to Shiraz, Brokenwood's premium Chardonnay program focuses on other exceptional terroirs, such as the sandy loams of the Belford Vineyard in the Hunter Valley and cooler high-altitude sites in Beechworth and Orange. These wines represent the pinnacle of modern Australian Chardonnay: elegant, complex, and driven by bright citrus and stone fruit characters, balanced by fine French oak integration and a creamy texture derived from lees stirring.
