β¨ Technical Specifications
The Beverford Cabernet Sauvignon represents a key chapter in the storied history of Buller Wines, which began in 1921. In 1951, the Buller family expanded their footprint by establishing the Beverford winery in the Swan Hill region of Victoria, situated near the life-giving Murray River. This warm-climate terroir, characterized by abundant sunshine and fertile sandy loam soils, allows Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to achieve optimal ripeness. The wine is crafted to showcase the generous, fruit-forward character of the region, utilizing traditional open fermenters and careful oak maturation to produce a smooth, approachable red with soft tannins and rich dark berry flavors, honoring the multi-generational winemaking legacy of the Buller family.
πΎ About the Producer
Established in 1921 by Reginald Langdon Buller, Buller Wines is an architectural benchmark of North-East Victoria's historic Rutherglen district. The estate centres around the historic 22-hectare Calliope Vineyard, where century-old, dry-grown vines thrive in deep alluvial loam and gravel over red clay. Benefiting from hot, sunny days and cool nocturnal air drainage off the Victorian Alps, the estate enjoys extended hang-time essential for late harvesting and desiccation. Owned by the Judd family since 2013, winemaking is overseen by chief winemaker Dave Whyte, balancing traditional practices with contemporary precision. Buller is world-renowned for its transcendent fortified winesβnotably Rare Muscat, Fine Old Muscat, and Tokay (Topaque)βaged through complex, multi-tiered solera systems that confer immense concentration, rancio complexity, and mahogany depth. Complementing its liquid history, Buller also crafts muscular Calliope and Balladeer estate reds featuring Shiraz and Durif, alongside crisp cool-climate table expressions sourced from neighbouring high-altitude valleys.
