✨ Technical Specifications
The Beverford Shiraz is a testament to Buller Wines' historic expansion in 1951, when the family established their Beverford winery in the warm, sun-drenched Swan Hill region of Victoria along the Murray River. This terroir, characterized by fertile soils and abundant sunshine, is ideal for producing generous, fruit-forward red wines. Crafted using traditional open fermenters, this Shiraz captures the classic Australian style of the region—approachable, rich, and deeply expressive, with a legacy of over a century of family winemaking heritage behind every bottle.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1921 by Reginald Langdon Buller, Buller Wines is an architectural benchmark of North-East Victoria's historic Rutherglen district. The estate centres around the historic 22-hectare Calliope Vineyard, where century-old, dry-grown vines thrive in deep alluvial loam and gravel over red clay. Benefiting from hot, sunny days and cool nocturnal air drainage off the Victorian Alps, the estate enjoys extended hang-time essential for late harvesting and desiccation. Owned by the Judd family since 2013, winemaking is overseen by chief winemaker Dave Whyte, balancing traditional practices with contemporary precision. Buller is world-renowned for its transcendent fortified wines—notably Rare Muscat, Fine Old Muscat, and Tokay (Topaque)—aged through complex, multi-tiered solera systems that confer immense concentration, rancio complexity, and mahogany depth. Complementing its liquid history, Buller also crafts muscular Calliope and Balladeer estate reds featuring Shiraz and Durif, alongside crisp cool-climate table expressions sourced from neighbouring high-altitude valleys.
