The Dona Dominga range by Casa Silva is a heartfelt tribute to the family's heritage, named in honor of the Silva family's daughters. Sourced from the prime terroirs of the Colchagua Valley within Chile's broader Central Valley, this Carmenere Gran Reserva celebrates the grape that has become Chile's signature. Once thought extinct in its native Bordeaux after the phylloxera epidemic, Carmenere was famously rediscovered in Chile in 1994, where it had been mistaken for Merlot. Under the careful stewardship of Casa Silva, this Gran Reserva is crafted to highlight the grape's plush, velvety texture and signature spicy complexity. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness to tame Carmenere's naturally green pyrazines, followed by aging in French oak barrels to impart structure, subtle toast, and integration.
