Nestled at the foot of the majestic Andes Mountains, the Los Lingues estate in the Colchagua Valley provides a dramatic backdrop for Casa Silva's signature Carmenere. This grape, famously lost to Europe during the phylloxera epidemic of the 19th century and rediscovered in Chile disguised as Merlot, has found its spiritual home in these stony, clay-loam soils. The cooling drafts descending from the Andes create a unique microclimate that tempers the valley's heat, allowing the notoriously late-ripening Carmenere to mature slowly and fully. This slow ripening tames the grape's natural pyrazines, yielding a Gran Reserva of remarkable depth. It typically showcases a rich profile of dark plums, blackberry, and bittersweet chocolate, accented by the variety's signature notes of freshly cracked black pepper and sweet tobacco, all framed by velvety, supple tannins.
