Hailing from Chile's prestigious Colchagua Valley, the Casa Silva Reserva Cuvee Colchagua Carmenere celebrates the dramatic resurrection of a grape once thought extinct in Europe. Carmenere, famously rediscovered in Chile in 1994 after being mistaken for Merlot for decades, has found its spiritual home in Colchagua's warm, sun-drenched vineyards. Casa Silva, a historic family estate with roots dating back to 1892, has been at the forefront of researching this variety's micro-terroirs. Sourced from estate vineyards nestled between the Andes and the Coastal Range, this wine benefits from cool night breezes that preserve acidity and balance. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness to tame the variety's natural pyrazines, yielding a wine characterized by lush dark fruits, sweet spices, and a hint of roasted bell pepper, partially aged in French oak to add structure and roundness.
