Pommard is legendary for producing some of the most powerful, structured, and long-lived red wines in the Côte de Beaune, and the Premier Cru 'Clos des Epenots' stands at the pinnacle of this reputation. Situated on a gentle slope with iron-rich, clay-limestone soils, this exceptional climat yields Pinot Noir of remarkable depth and muscularity. Château de Meursault meticulously crafts this wine from their prized parcels within the Clos, utilizing traditional Burgundian vinification techniques and aging the wine in French oak barrels. Historically, the name 'Epenots' refers to the thorns (épines) that once covered the area before it was cleared for vines in medieval times. The resulting wine is a masterclass in balance, marrying intense dark fruit aromas with earthy undertones, robust tannins, and a refined, elegant finish that develops beautifully over time.

With origins tracing back to the eleventh century and historical cellars excavated beneath its sprawling estate, Château de Meursault represents one of the largest and most storied domaines in the Côte de Beaune. Acquired in 2012 by Olivier Halley and managed by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, the estate spans roughly 65 hectares over more than one hundred distinct parcels across Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. Viticulture is strictly organic, achieving full certification across its climats with the 2022 vintage. Terroirs feature varied Jurassic limestone and clay marls on east- and southeast-facing slopes, farmed with an emphasis on biodiversity and living soils. Vinification balances Burgundian tradition with cutting-edge, low-carbon geothermal infrastructure, employing optical berry sorting, precise temperature-regulated fermentation, and measured French oak maturation. The domaine's benchmark whites include the flagship monopole Clos du Château, Premier Cru Charmes, and Premier Cru Perrières, accompanied by elegant Côte de Beaune reds and rare bottlings like Pinot Beurot.
