✨ wine.spec_sheet

Deep within the amphitheater of the Pündericher Marienburg, the Fahrlay parcel represents one of the Mosel's most dramatic and soil-specific terroirs. While much of the Marienburg is dominated by grey or red slate, Fahrlay is defined almost entirely by hard, ancient blue slate. This steep, terraced parcel yields wines of extraordinary tension, marked by a distinct salty minerality and flinty, smoky complexity. The name Marienburg itself pays homage to a former Franciscan convent that once overlooked these dizzying slopes. Under the meticulous biodynamic stewardship of Clemens Busch, the grapes are harvested by hand from old vines, spontaneously fermented in traditional oak Fuder casks, and left on their lees to develop texture and depth. The resulting Grosses Gewächs (GG) is a dry, powerful masterpiece that beautifully balances the wild, untamed energy of the blue slate with the pristine, crystalline purity of Mosel Riesling.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Located in the picturesque village of Pünderich in the Mosel region of Germany, Weingut Clemens Busch is a pioneering estate globally renowned for redefining Mosel Riesling through biodynamic viticulture. Clemens and Rita Busch took over the family estate in 1984, championing organic methods since 1986 and biodynamics since 2005 as members of Respekt Biodyn. The winery's production is deeply tied to the steep slopes of the Pündericher Marienburg vineyard, where they meticulously isolate parcels based on grey, red, and blue slate soils. Utilizing traditional large oak Fuder casks, spontaneous fermentation, and extended lees contact, they craft exceptionally precise, terroir-driven Rieslings, from bone-dry Grosses Gewächs expressions like Rothenpfad and Falkenlay to exquisitely concentrated noble sweet Auslese wines.
