Translating to 'from blue slate,' this cuvée is a profound liquid expression of the unique geological tapestry of the Mosel. In the steep, gravity-defying amphitheater of the Pündericher Marienburg, Clemens Busch meticulously isolates his parcels by soil color. The blue Devonian slate, which is harder and more compact than red or grey slate, forces the vines to plunge their roots deep into the rock. This struggle yields a Riesling of exceptional mineral tension, characterized by a cool, flinty, and intensely herbal profile. Respecting the rhythms of nature through biodynamic viticulture, the juice undergoes spontaneous fermentation in traditional, neutral oak Fuder casks, followed by extended contact with the lees. The result is a beautifully textured, vibrant wine that echoes the ancient riverbed origins of the Mosel valley.

Situated in the picturesque village of Pünderich along the dramatic slopes of Germany's Middle Mosel, Weingut Clemens Busch has been led by Clemens and Rita Busch since taking over the historic family estate in the 1980s. Regarded as pioneering trailblazers of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the region, the estate is dedicated to natural, low-intervention winemaking that deeply respects the ecosystem. Their work centers around the legendary, south-facing Pündericher Marienburg hillside, where varying sub-parcels of gray, red, and blue slate are vinified separately to showcase pure terroir expression. Clemens Busch is internationally acclaimed for profound, textured, and mineral-driven dry Rieslings—most notably their Grosses Gewächs expressions like Fahrlay, Falkenlay, and Rothenpfad—alongside exquisite noble sweet and sparkling wines.
