Compass Box's 'Menagerie' is a masterfully crafted Blended Malt Scotch Whisky that celebrates the diverse, sometimes 'wild' flavor profiles of Scotland's single malts. Conceived by founder John Glaser, this limited edition release brings together a collection of distinct malt whiskies, much like a curated menagerie of exotic creatures. The heart of the blend features the meaty, robust spirit of Mortlach—often called the 'Beast of Dufftown'—complemented by the honeyed, waxy character of Deanston, the elegant fruitiness of Glen Elgin, and a subtle touch of peaty, medicinal smoke from Laphroaig. These are married with Compass Box's custom Highland Malt Blend, aged in toasted French oak casks. The result is a complex, multi-layered spirit that showcases the blender's art: balancing rich fruit, savory spice, and delicate smoke into a harmonious whole.
