Conceived by founder John Glaser, this limited edition release brings together a collection of distinct malt whiskies, much like a curated menagerie of exotic creatures. The heart of the blend features the meaty, robust spirit of Mortlach—often called the 'Beast of Dufftown'—complemented by the honeyed, waxy character of Deanston, the elegant fruitiness of Glen Elgin, and a subtle touch of peaty, medicinal smoke from Laphroaig. These are married with Compass Box's custom Highland Malt Blend, aged in toasted French oak casks. The result is a complex, multi-layered spirit that showcases the blender's art: balancing rich fruit, savory spice, and delicate smoke into a harmonious whole.

Established in 2000 by visionary blender John Glaser, Compass Box is an independent boutique Scotch whiskymaking house dedicated to reimagining the traditions of blending. Operating out of its blending studio in Richmond, London, with warehouse maturation bases in Scotland, the firm approaches Scotch with the exacting philosophy of an artisan winemaker. Rather than relying on standard industrial recipes, Compass Box sources premier malt and grain distillates across Scotland, aging them in bespoke cooperage using toasted virgin French and American oak to highlight distinct structural and aromatic elements. Known for its staunch campaign for radical transparency, Compass Box crafts expressive, non-chill-filtered bottlings free of artificial coloring.
