Named in homage to Charlie Chaplin's 1928 silent film, this rare release was crafted from parcel-born whiskies—including single malts and single grains—that had been married together in sherry butts for an extended period. The result is a spectacularly rich, old-school Scotch with a profile defined by deep dried fruits, dark cocoa, and delicate wood spices. Established in 2000 by visionary blender John Glaser, Compass Box is an independent boutique Scotch whiskymaking house dedicated to reimagining the traditions of blending. Operating out of its blending studio in Richmond, London, with warehouse maturation bases in Scotland, the firm approaches Scotch with the exacting philosophy of an artisan winemaker. Rather than relying on standard industrial recipes, Compass Box sources premier malt and grain distillates across Scotland, aging them in bespoke cooperage using toasted virgin French and American oak to highlight distinct structural and aromatic elements.
