✨ Technical Specifications
Casillero del Diablo Reserva Chardonnay is steeped in the famous 19th-century legend of Viña Concha y Toro. To protect his finest private cellar from thieves, the winery's founder, Don Melchor, spread the rumor that the devil himself guarded the dark vaults—a tale that successfully kept intruders at bay and gave birth to one of the world's most famous wine brands. Sourced from selected vineyards in Chile's Central Valley, where cool coastal breezes help retain natural acidity, this Chardonnay showcases a bright, expressive character. The wine undergoes a combination of stainless steel fermentation to preserve fresh tropical fruit flavors and brief aging in French oak barrels to impart a delicate, creamy texture and subtle notes of vanilla and toasted hazelnut.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Concha y Toro and his wife Emiliana Subercaseaux, Viña Concha y Toro is Chile's preeminent wine producer and a cornerstone of South American winemaking history. Headquartered in Pirque within the historic Maipo Valley, the estate originated with noble French cuttings sourced directly from Bordeaux, laying the groundwork for a portfolio that now spans Chile's finest valleys from Limarí to Peumo. Concha y Toro pairs cutting-edge viticultural science with meticulous stewardship, crafting wines that reflect the diverse microclimates and soils of the Central Valley, Aconcagua, and southern regions. The winery is universally celebrated for benchmark red varietals—most notably expressive Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère—exemplified in prestige cuvées such as Carmín de Peumo, the Terrunyo series, and the enduring Marques de Casa Concha label.
