✨ Technical Specifications

Cultivated on the warm, sea-breezed plains of Puglia, where iron-rich terra rossa over limestone bedrock fosters deep phenolic maturation. The cuvée blends Negroamaro and Primitivo (Zinfandel) to capture complementary southern Italian profiles: Negroamaro supplies structure, savory herbal undertones, and rustic dark cherry, while Primitivo delivers plush blackberry, ripe fig, and rich mid-palate volume. Fermentation takes place under precise temperature control in stainless steel tanks, followed by brief maturation in inert vessels and oak to maintain pure fruit expression alongside soft, rounded tannins.

🍾 About the Producer

Established in 1959 by Luciano Contri as a sole proprietorship and reorganized as Contri Spumanti S.p.A. in 1980, the estate has evolved from local roots in the Tramigna valley into an expansive, technologically advanced production house. Headquartered in Cazzano di Tramigna northeast of Verona, the company is directed by oenologist Dr. Paolo Contri, who expanded operations to include state-of-the-art facilities in Campogalliano and extensive sourcing operations spanning northern to southern Italy. While renowned for prosecco and sparkling wines, the house sources Primitivo and Negroamaro from the sun-drenched, clay-limestone plains and coastal terra rossa soils of Puglia. In the cellar, temperature-controlled stainless steel vinification preserves varietal fruit purity, yielding full-bodied, approachable reds marked by dark berries, dried fig, and supple tannins. Benchmark Puglia bottlings include the Why Not? San Zin and Why Not? Negroamaro Primitivo, exemplifying their modern, international approach to classic southern Italian varietals.
