The winery's name itself carries a touch of historical whimsy, as the brand 'Cune' famously originated from a simple typographical error where the 'V' in CVNE was misread as a 'U'. Sourced primarily from old vines in the clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alta, this wine is a classic blend dominated by Tempranillo, supported by Graciano and Mazuelo. Following strict Gran Reserva traditions, it undergoes extended aging in American and French oak casks followed by years of refinement in the bottle. Still stewarded by fifth-generation descendants under CEO Víctor Urrutia, the historic house commands premier vineyard parcels across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, rooted primarily in calcareous clay and alluvial gravel under an Atlantic-moderated continental climate.
