Hailing from a prized single vineyard in the McLaren Vale, d'Arenberg's 'Shipsters' Rapture' Shiraz is a testament to the region's diverse microclimates and ancient soils. The name itself hints at the maritime influence and historical coastal trade of South Australia, combined with the whimsical storytelling for which winemaker Chester Osborn is famous. Grown on sandy soils over clay, this vineyard yields a Shiraz of remarkable perfume, elegance, and structural depth. In the cellar, d'Arenberg maintains its legendary, hands-on traditions: grapes are gently foot-trodden in open-top fermenters and pressed using historic basket presses before maturing in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barriques. The resulting wine is a harmonious balance of dark plum, exotic spice, and fine-grained, earthy tannins.
