The Footbolt Shiraz is named in honor of a legendary racehorse that laid the very foundations of the d'Arenberg estate. In 1912, Joseph Osborn made the pivotal decision to sell his prize-winning horse, Footbolt, to purchase the beautiful property in McLaren Vale. This rich, full-bodied Shiraz is a tribute to that noble stallion. Crafted using traditional methods, the grapes undergo gentle foot-treading and basket pressing before aging in a mix of old French and American oak barriques. The result is a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz, showcasing deep plum and blackberry fruit, complex notes of dark chocolate, earth, and a characteristic touch of black pepper, all framed by robust yet velvety tannins.

Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, d'Arenberg has grown into one of McLaren Vale's most iconic and storied family-owned estates in South Australia.
