Named in tribute to the ironstone-rich soils of McLaren Vale and the traditional mechanical basket presses used at the estate, The Ironstone Pressings is a classic Australian GSM blend that showcases the depth and structure of old-vine fruit. The ironstone flats of the region contain ironstone pebbles that retain heat and contribute a distinct, rustic mineral complexity to the grapes. d'Arenberg employs traditional winemaking methods for this cuvée, including foot-treading in open fermenters and gentle basket pressing, which coaxes out rich, velvety tannins and preserves the vibrant, spicy character of the old-vine Grenache, complemented by the structure of Shiraz and the earthy depth of Mourvèdre. The result is a deeply layered, complex red with a storied connection to the ancient geology of South Australia.
