✨ Technical Specifications
The Stump Jump range pays homage to a revolutionary South Australian invention: the stump-jump plough. Invented in the late 19th century, this ingenious device allowed ploughshares to ride over stubborn mallee stumps and rocks, saving countless hours for early settlers clearing the rugged Australian terrain. d'Arenberg's 'The Stump Jump Sticky Chardonnay' is a luscious, sweet dessert wine—affectionately known in Australia as a 'sticky'. Crafted from Chardonnay grapes that are allowed to concentrate their sugars on the vine, often with the assistance of botrytis (noble rot), the wine undergoes a fermentation process that is carefully arrested to retain its natural residual sweetness. This results in a vibrant, golden nectar that beautifully balances decadent honeyed stone fruit characters with Chardonnay's natural citrus drive and bright, refreshing acidity.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, d'Arenberg has grown into one of McLaren Vale's most iconic and storied family-owned estates in South Australia. Under the visionary stewardship of fourth-generation winemaker Chester Osborn, the winery adheres strictly to traditional, sustainable methods, utilizing certified organic and biodynamic viticulture along with foot-treading and basket pressing. Renowned for its eclectic naming conventions and distinctive red-stripe label, the estate crafts a wide spectrum of expressive wines with a particular mastery of Rhône varieties, old-vine Grenache, and robust Shiraz. Signature bottlings such as 'The Dead Arm Shiraz' and 'The Ironstone Pressings' stand as benchmarks of regional depth, complexity, and age-worthy character.
