Crafted from some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Côte de Nuits, some of which were planted as far back as 1905, Domaine Ponsot's Cuvée Très Vieilles Vignes represents the absolute zenith of Clos de la Roche. This legendary Grand Cru is a monument to traditional, non-interventionist winemaking. Eschewing the use of new oak, the domaine ages this precious nectar in seasoned barrels, some decades old, to preserve the pure, unadulterated expression of the limestone-rich terroir. The result is a wine of breathtaking complexity, boasting an intense bouquet of dark cherries, forest floor, game, and exotic spices. Founded in 1872 by William Ponsot, Domaine Ponsot is an iconic estate headquartered in Morey-Saint-Denis in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. Renowned for its historical independence and pioneering spirit, the domaine was among the earliest in the region to practice estate-bottling in the 1930s and champion clonal selection. The estate operates under a philosophy of minimal intervention, utilizing low-yield ancient vines, late harvesting for optimal physiological ripeness, and aging in seasoned, neutral oak casks to preserve terroir purity. Domaine Ponsot is globally celebrated for its majestic, long-lived Pinot Noir expressions from Grand Crus such as Clos de la Roche and Clos Saint-Denis, alongside its singular, historic Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Clos des Monts Luisants made from old-vine Aligoté.
