The Challen Chardonnay by Dominion Tantara is a beautiful expression of California's Central Coast, named in honor of Challen Cates, daughter of Tantara's founder Bill Cates. Sourced from prestigious, cool-climate vineyards in Santa Barbara County, this wine benefits from the region's unique transverse valleys, which draw in cool marine fog and winds from the Pacific Ocean. This maritime influence allows the Chardonnay grapes to undergo a long, slow ripening period, preserving their natural acidity while developing rich, complex flavors. In the cellar, traditional French winemaking techniques are employed, including barrel fermentation and aging on the lees with regular stirring. This meticulous process imparts a luxurious, creamy texture and subtle toasted oak notes that beautifully balance the wine's vibrant citrus and stone fruit core.
