The Challen Pinot Noir is a deeply personal expression of the Cates family legacy at Dominion Tantara, named in honor of founder Bill Cates' daughter, Challen Cates. Sourced from premier cool-climate vineyards within Santa Barbara County, including the wind-swept hillsides of the Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills, this wine benefits from the region's unique transverse mountain ranges. This geography funnels cool maritime fog and breezes directly from the Pacific Ocean, extending the growing season and preserving vibrant natural acidity. Crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques, including open-top fermentation and aging in select French oak barrels, this Pinot Noir is celebrated for its elegant structure, silky tannins, and a complex profile of bright red berries, forest floor, and delicate spice.
